A Love Letter

Carla Coulson street poet

What do you give the man you love on your wedding anniversary?

Well if you are walking by the centre Pompidou and you still haven’t found a gift and the day is drawing to a close, what could be better than a gift of words by a sweet street poet?

I was out with the fabulous Vicki Archer of French Essence and we both stopped in our tracks when we saw this guy with his old typewriter and lovely recycled paper of poems and love letters.

Antoine and I had a quick chat about my darling Francesco and our relationship, Vicki and I whipped off for a cup of tea and when we came back I had an old fashioned love letter for my darling.

Antoine Berard is a street poet and most days you can find him sitting outside the Centre Pompidou on the rue Rambuteau side where he will whip you up a poem on a beaten up old typewriter for you or your loved ones.

So to my darling Francesco Happy Anniversary. I so love having you by my side on this wonderful adventure called life.  Us on the way to our wedding at the town hall in the 4th arrondissement.

PS; If there is any marvellous French/English translator out there I would love a great translation of my love letter. xx

What a beautiful gift Carla, I can just imagine you and Vicki getting all poetic together!
I once gave Sam a list of 100 reasons why I love him and I found it still treasured all these years later when we moved to Italy.

Congrats to the winners and I recognize Peggy’s name so extra excited for her.

Sending much love to you both on your Anniversary and always, you are so right Love is the Most important thing.

Ps I love your poet tapping away how gorgeous!

What a beautiful post. The poet, the poem and your anniversary. I so love the idea of a public poet. Such a beautiful, joyous photo of you both on your wedding day. Happy anniversary, dear Carla.

Hello Carla & Francesco

Happy Anniversary. What a delight for us all that you found Antoine. So very romantic. Such a wonderful idea – going back to the old ways and remembering that small thoughtful things are just so much more precious and meaningful than even the brightest diamond. He spends his life spreading love around and you also spend your life showing us ways to spread love and kindness. Thank you.

bonjour Carla;
I found to you via Corey & her links to you and the Contessa……… what wonderful finds!
All three of you are soul sisters to my own dear heart & soul. Sadly I haven’t always got enough time to dedicate to all my dear bloggers but IF it’s any help to you (and if I understood correctly) I’d be happy to give you a sort of translation of your French poem. Be warned, my English is pretty good but my mother tongue is Swiss German, then German, then English, French and about 100 sentences in Italian… I lived more than 8 yrs in UK, am married to Hero Husband who is French spoken (and who is also Swiss, from Lausanne) – friends tell me that I’m a great writer but I really leave it up to you if you want to take the risk… 🙂 And you’d have to have the patience, as I’m also very often in Switzerland for weeks, although I’m living outside of Paris.
Let me know sometimes. Love what you did with the beautiful ‘Contessa’ – shall certainly visit you again.
Love, Kiki

PS: My eyesight is sadly also diminishing rapidly, I therefore can’t spend that much time at the computer anymore.
