GET PUBLISHED 2013 SYDNEY small soldout

I feel happy and excited to announce the second edition of the Get Published Workshop along with special guests KATIE QUINN DAVIES (of fab blog WHAT KATIE ATE) and SHARON MISKO, CREATIVE DIRECTOR OF INSIDE OUT MAGAZINE.

Last year was a blast and this year will be even more jam packed with information on how to have your photography published in magazines and books and we will hear from Katie Quinn Davies on her journey from graphic artist to self taught photographer, finding her style, having an International Bestseller and winning the James Beard Award for food photography.

Sharon Misko, creative director of Inside Out will also share her expertise of years working in the magazine industry. Sharon joined us last year to teach photographers what art directors and creative directors are looking for in a photographers portfolio and is back due to popular demand. Sharon will talk about photographic style, do’s and don’ts when presenting your work or shooting a story and will critique two photographers work for the benefit of all the participants.

During the past 13 years I have had the chance to work closely at all levels of image making with the magazine and publishing industry including art directors, publishers, journalists and editors. In this ONE DAY WORKSHOP I plan to share with you what I have learnt, the mistakes I have made and ways you can shortcut your path to being published.

You can see last years Get Published Success Stories here and what last years participants had to say about the event here.

Carla Coulson_Caravan SOLD OUT SMALL

CARAVAN – PUGLIA ITALY 10-16TH JUNE 2014

For 12 years I passed my life on trains, planes and automobiles. I have walked thousands of miles in different countries and I have waded through knee-deep mud to get that special photo that would ignite my soul. I have stayed up all night to chase an Easter procession in Sicily, swam underwater in the Mediterranean to shoot another perspective on Italian ladies having a chat and commando crawled between legs to shoot dancers in a crowded Flamenco club in Spain.

I have invested the past 12 years of my life learning how to capture photos with soul, it has taken blood, sweat and tears and I have spent my life savings along the way but I wouldn’t swap one of those train rides or the magic that travel brings for anything.

Join my ‘caravan’ on a road less travelled to the boot of Italy, in the beautiful region of Puglia. A journey to the Valle D’Itria region that will make your heart sing and take your Travel Photography skills to a professional level. Puglia once was the road that linked Rome to other Mediterranean civilizations and has a tradition of rich culture, history, agriculture and a knockout cuisine.

Six incredible days of tuition and travel photographing beautiful Martina Franca, Cisternino, Ceglie Messapica, Grottaglie and Locorotondo whilst learning the essentials of interiors, portraiture, life photography, landscapes, cityscapes, food and still life.

Learn my methods of taking travel photos with emotion, how to tell your story of a place in a unique way, create your own style so you can stand out from the crowd, how to master natural light and to take authentic portraits in a yet to be discovered part of Italy.

Each day we will spend up to 4 hours on the theory of a particular theme of travel photography and the rest of the day on location capturing images. Each participant will be encouraged to send a small portfolio of images to be critiqued prior to starting the workshop and to create a story or portfolio whilst on location which will be shown on the last evening.

You will have an experience of a lifetime and walk away with confidence in your photography and a beautiful travel portfolio.

WHAT’S IN STORE FOR YOU:

4 nights stay in the heart of beautiful historic Baroque Martina Franca in mini apartments, includes a buffet breakfast. Single Occupancy rooms.
