Paris Breakfasts Gets a Make-Over

The fabulous Carol Gillott Copyright Carla Coulson

For those who don’t know the zany and fabulous Carol Gillott from Paris Breakfast and her beautiful Illustrations I suggest you race on over to her blog straight away! She who tours us around Paris from one patisserie to the next, snapping and informing us as she goes on her blog was recently in Paris. And lucky me  I had the fun of photographing her. You can read all about our shenanigans on Carol’s blogpost Funny Face’d by Carla Coulson!

Veronique gave Carol a new look which included her fabulous lips, Russian red to be precise to go with her iconic glasses. Carol had enough macaroons and cakes to cause a revolution, passers-by thought she owned or was Pierre Herme!! Of course Carol insisted make-up artist Veronique and I try every flavour in between sips of champagne and it was only 10am! And I had to get the shots in focus and was supposedly on a diet for my summer bikini!

But Carol was so easy to shoot, so glam and with those new Russian red lips I am worried for her safety on the streets of New York. I couldn’t resist a movie-star shot through the window she looked so amazing.

And in case you are wondering what Funny Face is, it is the most marvellous film staring Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire and it’s Carla’s new favourite thanks to the tip from Carol.

Astaire plays fashion photographer Richard Avedon and he discovers the fabulous Audrey in one of those ‘dreary’ bookstores in New York and off they go to sing and dance and shoot their way around Paris. Funny Face will have you have you too skipping around singing ‘Bonjour Paris’.

  3. I am guessing photo shoots don’t come any better than this… A lively subject; champagne; fresh croissants; macarons; and Paris as a background, bien sûr… oh and let’s not forget a creative and talented photographer/make-over [French] artist… :-) Looking at the results, I think I may very well have to book you myself during my next visit to Paris, Carla. I bet you and Veronique would have no problem turning this French-Girl-in-Seattle back into a French-Girl-in- Paris. :-) Well done. Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

  4. I love those red lips…fabulous! You girls sound like you had way too much fun…!
