I love vintage clothing and Paris is fast becoming a hot spot for finding some amazing pieces. Vintage fashion has the allure of the individual that is no longer part of our lives and makes for incredible styling in a photo shoot.
When you walk into a vintage store there is just one piece hanging on the rack, carefully sewn in a hand selected material and in an individual style. Unlike walking into Zara or H & M today and seeing a sea of the same colour and style. CARLA LOVES VINTAGE!
The king of Parisian vintage couture Didier Ludot has long had a gaggle of women beating a path to his store in the beautiful Palais Royale but there are a whole swath of little boutiques popping up all over town with wonderful finds.
Here are some of my favourites:
For all the great names in vintage couture from Jean Patou to Dior your man is Mr. Didier Ludot. You risk fainting outside his shop if big name couture is your thing.

Gilda recently opened in the Marais and all the dresses have been hand-picked, washed and ironed. A woman after my own heart. Gilda specialises in 50′s, 60′s, 70′s and I couldn’t resist a dress from the 60′s for a recent wedding with chiffon sleeves!
51 rue du Temple
Doris Hamburg is the clever owner of Chez Chiffons and she has two stores almost next door to each other in the cool Canal St Martin area. One for day wear and one for evening wear. I spotted the most heavenly wedding dress (which Doris told me was her mothers) in white chiffon with feather trimming. Loving Chez Chiffon.
47 rue de Lancry
My stylist friend Arno Ferrie introduced me to the fabulous Studio W in the haut Marais. Just three racks fill this elegant store and yep they are full of Yves St Laurent, Dior and Chanel. The accessories would give your groovy aunty a divine flashback to glory days and have your funky daughter begging to shop.
6 Rue du Pont aux Choux
I took a turn down the wrong street one day as I was walking to the Canal St Martin from the Marais and bingo found the beautiful store called Vintage Clothing. Mesmerized by the window I couldn’t resist diving in. Beautiful hand selected pieces and lots of glamour. I love this address. Only open at the end of the week.
10 rue de Crussol
I hope you enjoy fossicking around for something special in these lovely boutiques in Paris.
“We just sit around talking about the old times she says when she feels like crying she starts laughing thinking about: Glory days, well they’ll pass you by Glory days, in the wink of a young girl’s eye, Glory days, glory days”. Bruce Springsteen
